About Shirley
Shirley Kahen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a trauma-informed practice inclusive of culturally and gender-diverse communities.
A native of metropolitan Washington, D.C., she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park, and her Master of Social Welfare from UCLA.
In over twenty-five years of practice, she has worked in geriatrics, maternal mental health, LGBTQ mental health, military healthcare, and primary care-mental health integration.
Shirley draws from a range of therapeutic modalities incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, mindful self-compassion, and the science of attachment. A student of the world, Shirley is constantly evolving as a therapist and eagerly expanding upon developments in the field.
